This is our support network for trans or gender variant children and their families
WHAT WE DO
We can put you in touch with other families who identify with what you are experiencing. Meeting others and sharing experiences is a big part of what we do, bringing people together in a safe environment. We hold regular meetings giving people the opportunity to benefit from peer to peer support, share resources and knowledge that can be taken away and used as practical support in schools and other environments.
Meeting other families is invaluable, the sense of relief that you are not the only ones experiencing gender identity issues is incredible.
Our family community keeps growing and growing and often remain friends for life.
We organise regular meetups throughout the year. Giving families the opportunity to make friends, have fun and relax. Watching your child make friends and play with others like them can be extremely rewarding. These meetups are also very informative as various questions are asked and answered which help inform and educate everyone on the rights of the children and families who may be experiencing difficulties at school or with accessing treatment on the NHS.
Families having fun with others through an often stressful time can really lift everyones spirits, reviving the strength and togetherness needed to pull each other through.
FAMILY & CHILDREN'S GROUP
We also invite inspirational guest speakers to talk about their journeys, this can be a really positive experience for parents. Seeing older trans people leading everyday lives with successful careers is helpful. Seeing there is light at the end of the tunnel when you are feeling exhausted with worry can be extremely reassuring.
It's incredible how simply listening to someone talk about their life, partner, kids or job can be so overwhelming. As parents, we worry about our kids and their future anyway but when you add being trans to the equasion things feel somehow worse - how will they cope, will they be bullied? who will employ them? who will love them? Rest assured that as society becomes increasingly accepting many trans people are leading very active and fulfilling lives.
